NBA star Damian Lillard has ended his 10+ year relationship with college sweetheart Kay La Hanson, filing for divorce in October 2023.
The couple met at Weber State University, married in 2021, and Lillard shared their journey with fans on Instagram.
Despite not always valuing marriage, Lillard expressed its importance in a 2022 GQ interview, emphasizing the vital role Hanson and their three children, including twins born in 2021, played in his life.
This marks the end of their significant relationship.

They met at Weber State University in Utah and began dating.
Although Damian left for the NBA draft in 2012, he completed his degree in professional sales in 2015.
Kay La, reportedly studying nursing, supported him during college, and Damian knew she was the one because she cared for him and accepted him, flaws and all.
He shared this in an interview with Ebony in 2021.

After earning a nursing degree, Hanson became an entrepreneur.
In 2019, she and her partner, Brittney Coleman, launched Dipped Nails, a nail salon near Portland.

On March 29, 2018, Lillard and Hanson welcomed their first child, Damian Jr.
Two years later, they announced they were expecting twins.

In Portland on October 2, 2023, Lillard initiated divorce proceedings against Hanson, citing “irreconcilable differences” that caused the “irremediable breakdown of their marriage.”
The documents further disclosed that Lillard had vacated their shared residence in December 2022.
